The Exhilaration of Acrobatics

Cirque du Soleil returns to London, and we couldn't miss it.

By Hannah Ashdown | February 05, 2026

Cirque du Soleil has freshly landed in Kensington’s Royal Albert Hall, with OVO. A show includes talented performers, a 14-metre high-flying trapeze act, and a Brazilian-inspired score.

We were deeply moved by this show. Watching the acrobats perform acts that look daring, dangerous, and incredibly difficult - all with such ease and grace - was truly inspiring. It’s a vibrant, uplifting experience that allows you to momentarily forget the outside world and simply enjoy the beauty of what’s happening in front of you. We wholeheartedly recommend it as a wonderful way to treat yourself and escape, even if just for a little while.

Everything is on a larger scale in this restaging of the 2018 production, from the props to the enhanced lighting.

OVO showcases the bustling ecosystem of nature, and follows the adventures of the curious insects, including a ladybug who captures the heart of another. The show explores the complexities of love and life in a high-spirited neighbourhood. The storyline is accompanied by impressive acrobatics and enchanting visuals.

The details of the costume design are integral to the show. They are designed to fit the characters in a way that does not restrict the movement of the performers. The costumes were designed by Liz Vandal, a former fashion designer who specialised in extreme movement, and reflect the nature of the insects through her use of vibrant colours. Vandal manipulated the fabric to resemble the physical characteristics of the bugs, for example, using pleats to evoke an exoskeleton.

The show is on until the March 1st 2026 - if you can get tickets. Here’s a quick link for you: OVO.
