Inside the Mind of Francesca Roni

Strategic investments, international style, and the non-negotiables that keep this fashion powerhouse grounded.

By Hannah Ashdown | April 26, 2026

This week, we sat down with Francesca Roni to discuss all things fashion, secret weapons, and how to disconnect on a Sunday.

With a professional foundation built in the rigorous sectors of law and finance, Francesca brings a formidable analytical perspective to the industry.

Beneath Francesca’s corporate expertise lies a creative heart. As a patron of the British Fashion Council and a seasoned investor, she divides her time between the global style capitals of London, Milan, and Paris. Whether she is navigating the disciplined firmness of British design, the niche craftsmanship of Italy, or the effortless attitude of Paris, her approach to business and style is defined by a commitment to authenticity and grounding routines.

Let’s get into this week’s Sunday Series.

How does your background influence your eye for fashion, do you find yourself looking at the structure of a brand differently?

My background is law and finance, so I am used to looking at brands from a profitability angle. That being said, when I scout for brands to develop and help in their next stage of growth, it is mostly about my gut feelings and instinct, and my creative emotional side that always guides me.

Having experience in both Italy and abroad, how would you describe the shift in fashion energy between the two?

I divide my time between London, Milano and Paris and what I can tell you is that I love the French attitude, not strictly connected to a specific brand, the British firmness and discipline and the Italian heart and warmth towards dresses and looks!

London is very focused on emerging talents and I appreciate this a lot being also a patron of the British Fashion Council. Paris is great energy for everyone and it gathers the whole world nowadays so it is very important to be there as a brand. Italy is a mix of new and old talents but it feels more niche.

What are your favourite pieces from the brands that you invest in?

We invested in pretty diversified companies so I can tell you I love bottom down jeans from Dondup, Rosantica evening bags are a must, so unique and bespoke. I will never walk on the weekend without a good pair of Autry Medalist, I wash my hair with Les Secret de Loly and summer outfits are boho chic with the whole Sessun collection!!

The work-life balance often feels like a myth. What is your non-negotiable secret weapon that keeps the gears turning?

Non negotiable 6.5 hours of sleep per night and quality time with my family where we share ideas, problems and my teenage daughters make memes of me when I do zoom calls, I will cherish these moments forever!!

What does the first hour of your day look like? Is it a rigorous workout, a specific wellness practice, or a quiet moment with your family?

Quick meditation with The Calm app (it says it all!!) before the phone and Whatsapp start chasing me and breakfast with my kids before all of us head out to our busy days. Routine is key, it gives you grounding and focus.

What is the one thing you do to truly disconnect on a Sunday? Is it a long walk in the British countryside or a quiet family meal in Milan?

Cipriani lunch wherever I am!! Watching my son's football games and forced shopping tours with my daughters! Lol - a good hour of tennis if possible!!

What is your power outfit that makes you feel both authoritative and authentically you?

A nice suited jacket and a pair of trousers, short heeled shoes, I prefer comfort to keep on going the whole day. Accessories based on my mood of the day!

As someone who splits time between Italy and abroad, what are the three items you never travel without to ensure you feel at home in a hotel room?

My skincare, my iPad and a good jumper!

When you’re in Italy, what restaurant are you excited to return to?

Cipriani, La Trattoria Torre di Pisa, I love Tuscan food and Osteria Fortunata, simple and delicious food from Rome, make sure you have time, there is always a huge queue to get a table there!!

For our readers, we’d love to know where is your go to spot for a cocktail with your friends?

In Milano at the Portrait Hotel or at The Wilde club, who took over the Versace house in Milano, absolutely stunning. In London at the Roof gardens or Maison Estelle. In Paris at Hotel Costes or Chateau Voltaire, super cool vibes!!!
