This week, The Plum Edit team headed to the heart of Chelsea to visit King’s Dog Daycare, an extraordinary luxury retreat founded by co-owners Charlie and Nick. What began as a passionate side hustle run out of a small London flat has rapidly transformed into a premier destination for city pups and their human admirers.
During our visit, we spoke with Charlie about the journey of growing their boutique space, the operational philosophy behind the business, and how they have created a joyful, sanctuary-like environment along the famous Fulham Road.
At the core of King’s Dog Daycare is a deeply rooted, community-focused approach. Upon arrival, visitors step into a boho-chic café and carefully curated retail boutique rather than a typical kennel environment. Every item stocked on the shelves reflects an unyielding commitment to local, ethical, and sustainable brands. Shoppers can discover everything from artisanal, natural dog treats to eco-friendly toys and high-quality hypoallergenic shampoos.
While the dogs enjoy dedicated play areas, human guests can grab a fresh, delicious focaccia or a specialty coffee prepared by the resident barista, making it an ideal neighbourhood spot that supports small businesses while celebrating a shared love for animals.
King’s offers daycare for dogs under 15kg, professional grooming services, an indoor playroom and a garden, and for the owners, a boho-chic cafe filled with dog-friendly essentials.
Charlie talked to us about her and Nick’s love for dogs, and how this manifested into King’s. Beyond offering daycare for your best friends, King’s also offers Pet-A-Pooch, a unique experience that lets you sit and play with the dogs. We had a lovely conversation about how this experience is conscientiously planned so that the dogs can benefit from socialisation with humans, and customers get joy from interacting with the dogs.

How Pet-A-Pooch Balances Human Joy and Canine Well-Being
The Pet-A-Pooch program is far more than a fun attraction; it is a conscientiously planned socialization exercise designed to benefit both the dogs and the human guests.
During these 45-minute sessions, visitors can sit, relax, and interact with a variety of friendly small dogs, ranging from tiny teacup breeds to energetic Pomeranians and playful Dachshunds.
To maintain a serene, stress-free environment for the animals, the daycare enforces strict operational guidelines:
1. Structured Rest Periods
Sessions are capped at 45 minutes to ensure the dogs have ample downtime, nap schedules, and quiet breaks between visits.
2. Age Guidelines for Guests
To preserve a calm and predictable atmosphere, the experience is tailored specifically for guests aged ten and above who can interact gently with smaller breeds.
3. Supervised Socialisation
Daycare staff monitor all interactions, ensuring the dogs feel comfortable, safe, and happy as they engage with new human friends.
During our store walkthrough, Charlie also gave us an exciting sneak peek into the business's next big milestone. Building on the success of their Chelsea flagship, Charlie and Nick are currently preparing to renovate a historic country pub, converting the property into a dedicated, boutique boarding facility.
Designed as the ultimate getaway for urban hounds needing a restful break from concrete streets, this upcoming countryside retreat promises to blend rustic charm with the same high-standard luxury, safety, and personalised care that defines their Fulham Road location.
Whether you are seeking a trusted daycare space for your dog, looking to treat your pet to a luxury grooming session, or simply wishing to recharge your mood with a Pet-A-Pooch coffee break, King’s Dog Daycare stands out as an inspiring model of modern, animal-first entrepreneurship.
