This week we headed to King’s Dog Daycare, where Charlie and Nick run their luxury dog daycare in the heart of Chelsea, a joyful space for both dogs and owners.
We spoke with Charlie about how they have transformed their boutique space from a side hustle in a small flat into a premier destination for city pups and their human admirers.
The heart of the business lies in its community-focused approach. Visitors are greeted by a charming cafe and a carefully curated boutique. Every item on the shelves reflects a commitment to local and sustainable brands, from artisanal dog treats to high-quality shampoos. It is the kind of place where you can grab a delicious focaccia or a coffee from the resident barista, while supporting small businesses.
King’s offers daycare for dogs under 15kg, professional grooming services, an indoor playroom and a garden, and for the owners, a boho-chic cafe filled with dog-friendly essentials.
Charlie talked to us about her and Nick’s love for dogs, and how this manifested into King’s. Beyond offering daycare for your best friends, King’s also offers Pet-A-Pooch, a unique experience that lets you sit and play with the dogs. We had a lovely conversation about how this experience is conscientiously planned so that the dogs can benefit from socialisation with humans, and customers get joy from interacting with the dogs.
Perhaps the most unique offering is their Pet a Pooch sessions. Recognising that not everyone in London has the space or time for a full-time pet, Charlie and Nick created a way for people to hang out with the daycare regulars.
Pet a Pooch features small dogs under 15 kilos, ranging from tiny teacups to energetic Pomeranians. Each 45-minute session is designed for safety and relaxation, ensuring the dogs have plenty of rest between guests. While the dogs are incredibly social, the experience is tailored for those aged ten and above to ensure a calm environment for every animal involved.
Charlie also gave us a sneak peek into their next project, and how they’re planning to renovate an old pub into a dedicated, boutique, boarding kennel. And if it’s anything like their current home on Fulham Road, it sounds like the ultimate getaway for urban hounds who need a break from the pavement.
This short summary only scratches the surface of the joy radiating from this business. You can watch the full video below; it is a heartwarming look at how a passion for animals can grow into a thriving community hub.
