From its roots in Taipei to establishing a vibrant global presence, Bluerider ART has spent over 13 years challenging the boundaries of contemporary art.
This week, we headed to Mayfair to chat with Elsa, the founder of the gallery, about all things intentional curation, international audiences, as well as their current exhibition, Willi Siber’s Dimension V - Baroque Nature.
Under Elsa’s leadership, Bluerider ART has grown from its Taiwanese roots into a formidable international force, establishing outposts in Shanghai, Los Angeles, and London. The gallery operates on a compelling dual philosophy: while one primary focus is dedicated to showcasing established European artists over the age of 50, it balances this by acting as a crucial springboard for undiscovered, emerging creators under 40 through unique anonymous open calls.
Setting up shop in Mayfair was a highly calculated move. Situated in an incredibly competitive square mile alongside some of the world's most elite institutions, Elsa views the UK capital as the ultimate litmus test. She notes that London audiences possess a deep, mature understanding of art history. To truly connect with them, a gallery must offer something exceptionally distinct, a challenge Bluerider ART has triumphantly met over its last two and a half years in the city.
A major highlight of our chat was the gallery's latest exhibition, a vibrant solo showcase by German master Willi Siber. Despite being over 75 years old, Siber possesses an extraordinary creative energy, producing an entire body of work for this exhibition in just two years.
Watch our gallery tour and interview with founder Elsa below:
During our conversation, Elsa emphasized that while many creative minds possess brilliant concepts, only truly great artists hold the technical mastery required to transform abstract ideas into physical objects that deeply move an audience. Willi Siber’s ability to manipulate wood, steel, and high-gloss lacquers into weightless, organic forms is a prime testament to this level of craftsmanship.
The momentum at the Mayfair gallery continues to build. Following the conclusion of Willi Siber's exhibition, Bluerider ART is preparing an ambitious group showcase tailored for the upcoming Frieze art season.
This major upcoming exhibition will introduce London to more than 15 breakthrough young artists selected anonymously from their recent open calls across Taiwan and China. The curated selection will offer London art lovers a rare, authentic glimpse into the ideas, mediums, and cultural narratives driving the next generation of Asian contemporary art.
By comparing collector dynamics between hubs like Shanghai, Los Angeles, and Mayfair, Elsa and her team continue to build meaningful cultural bridges between Eastern and Western art markets. Through utilising an anonymous submission process for young artists, the gallery ensures that selection is based purely on artistic merit, technical skill, and emotional impact rather than background or existing reputation.
Whether you are eager to experience Willi Siber’s mesmerising, colour-shifting sculptures in person or interested in discovering the next wave of global contemporary talent, Bluerider ART offers an inspiring and refreshing destination in West London.
