Sat under the arches in Bethnal Green is Tempo, led by Chef Eric Wan (ex-Dinner by Heston), this spot serves new-wave Asian, flavour-led dishes alongside a curated wine list.
We stopped by the restaurant this week after seeing some of their delicious dishes on our Instagram. The restaurant bridges Wan’s Chinese-Vietnamese heritage with his fine-dining background, notable through his modern take on traditional ingredients.
Tempo follows Wan’s 18-month journey with Lá Lốt, which has been popping up globally including in Paris and Shanghai. The restaurant opened in late 2025 and is a partnership with Dan’s wines, a Dalston neighbourhood favourite, who curate the wine selection.
Now a permanent spot for Wan’s cooking, the open kitchen adds an unbeatable immersion to the atmosphere of the restaurant. The industrial details of the interior are softened with warm lighting and wood, making for a great date-night spot.

Their prawn toast is an obvious crowd-pleaser, which combines the crispy toast with herby, zingy flavours of lime and green chilli with the tangy crunch of pickled daikon.
The flavour profiles don’t stop at the main course, Tempo’s set menu also offers Honey Butter Madeleines for dessert - a sweet option to tie up your evening.
We spoke with the team about how the inspiration of the menu lies in a culmination of Wan’s life experiences, prawn toast, and their tailored choices of both old and new world wines.
