Trejo’s Tacos, the iconic Los Angeles culinary phenomenon founded by actor Danny Trejo, is a thoughtful fusion of cinematic history, community artistry, and nourishing food.
This isn’t just another high-profile export; it is a thoughtful fusion of cinematic history, community artistry, and nourishing food.
This week, we sat down with Co-CEOs Sean O’Kelly and Jerome Armit, in amongst the bold murals from Tom Blackford and Jose Rodriguez, to explore the passion driving this neighbourhood spot in Notting Hill.
The story of Trejo’s Tacos begins not in a boardroom, but in the quiet moments between takes on a bustling movie set. While working alongside Danny Trejo, Sean noticed mysterious white boxes being delivered directly to the actor's Winnebago every day.
Curiosity eventually won out. When the team plucked up the courage to ask what was inside, expecting props or script notes, they found something far more special: fresh, wholesome meals prepared by Trejo’s family. Disappointed by standard set catering, Trejo relied on clean, generation-spanning family recipes refined for a balanced, active lifestyle. What started as a personal commitment to wellness naturally evolved, launching the very first Trejo’s Tacos in Los Angeles in 2016.
Want to know about the soul of the menu, or where the Co-CEOs hang out on their days off? You'll have to hear it from them.
